Earlier last month it was announced that following the sad death of Dr Ahad, the single partner of Station Surgery in Leyland, that a ‘caretaker’ practice – Park View Surgery in Preston – was appointed to make sure that patients continue to have access to a GP and other services already provided.  The caretaker practice was appointed to maintain service delivery for 6 months until 25th November 2019 whilst the CCG sought a long term solution.

Following this announcement, a meeting was called for patients where they were informed that there a number of possibilities being considered. Such as procuring another GP practice to provide care from the premises, or to disperse patients to other local GP practices and close the surgery.

Kim Snape, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for South Ribble has hit out at this news. Kim says “I have been inundated by resident’s concerns over the last few weeks regarding the lack of certainty of the long term future of Station Surgery here in Leyland. People need a longer term commitment than 6 months. This week I have written a joint letter to the Chairman of the CCG in conjunction with local councillors Jacky Alty for Farington East & Ken and Sue Jones for St Ambrose ward to demand that the CCG commit to the long term future of the surgery. Not only for the residents who already use the surgery but also for the wider South Ribble area. They also owe it to Dr Ahad who built the practice and to carry on his work.”

The CCG is encouraging patients to respond to their survey by 31st July. Please do respond.https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/stationsurgery
